This is my go to recipe for fruit pizza. The cookie base is a really good recipe and everyone loves it when I make it.
Fruit pizza. Hello, hi, I love you.
This fruit pizza starts with a slightly doughy jumbo sugar cookie, which already seems like it can’t get any better, but buckle up. It’s about to get WAY wild in here.

The Prettiest Fruit Pizza Ever!
The jumbo sugar cookie is intentionally underbaked so it stays nice and soft and doughy (SAY NO MORE I am here for this). It’s topped with a cream cheese frosting – repeat: cream cheese frosting – and then it’s decorated with juicy, colorful fruit in a meticulous rainbow pattern.
You guys know I give zero anythings about fancy-looking food. I am an anti-food-decorator. Just put it all in a bowl and give me a fork. That is my motto.

Ingredients You’ll Need For The Best Fruit Pizza Recipe
- Baking essentials (like flour, sugar, butter, eggs, and a couple extras) to make the sugar cookie dough crust.
- Cream cheese, butter, vanilla, and powdered sugar for the frosting
- Fruit! Our favorites include strawberries, grapes, mangos, blueberries, and kiwi. Your fruit choices are flexible here though – other great options could include bananas, raspberries, blackberries, mandarin oranges, or maybe even peaches.
Effortless, Easy, and Beautiful
But this might be my one exception. It’s not actually hard at all – you just layer the fruit slices in a pretty pattern, and I swear, people will think you are straight-up Martha Stewart. Including yourself.
And somehow that soft-baked sugar cookie + cream cheese frosting combo does, in fact, taste better when the sliced fruit on top is just a little prettier.
You better be grammin this moment.

This fruit pizza is strangely popular with the guys in my family – like, all of them are obsessed? – and I don’t know if that has to do with the underbaked sugar cookie crust, or the cream cheese frosting layer, or the fact that it has just the right amount of Midwestern retro to it?
Guy/girl, Midwestern, retro or not, doesn’t even matter.
This fruit pizza is just straight guuuud.

Fruit Pizza: Frequently Asked Questions
We LOVED that the dough was slightly underbaked, but if that’s not your thing, bake the dough for an additional 3-5 minutes. You can also use a tube of store-bought sugar cookie dough.
You can make the dough gluten-free by using gluten-free flour. A 1:1 sub with Trader Joe’s Gluten Free Flour worked great for me.
Use the top halves of the grapes so they are round and smooth!

- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg

- 5–6 kiwis, sliced
- 1 mango, sliced
- 1/2 cup blueberries

Instructions
- Make the Crust: Mix the butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla until well combined. (You can use an electric mixer or just mix with a spoon if your butter is melted.) Add flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until combined. Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
- Bake the Crust: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking stone with parchment. Roll the chilled dough out onto it into a 1/4 to 1/2-inch thick layer, leaving some space around the edge. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Allow it to cool.
- Make the Cream Cheese Frosting: Using an electric mixer, combine the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth and creamy. Spread over the cooled cookie crust and chill again to firm up the frosting.

This fruit pizza was originally published back in 2012, and we’ve updated the recipe and pictures to reflect the new (and improved) recipe. We recommend using this recipe, but if you are looking to make the older version, you can find a printable version here.
Healthy Fruit Pizza

This is a variation on fruit pizza that is made with a raw crust (dates / nuts) and a creamy coconut milk and honey filling. It’s also no-bake fruit pizza which is great in the summer.

This is the best fruit pizza recipe I have tried and always get asked for the recipe. I did notice the cook time has been updated and changed significantly from 12 minutes to now 20-25 minutes. I’m going to stick with the original 12 minutes, because that’s how I’ve always made it. Curious about the longer cook time though?
I haven’t made fruit pizza for years but thought my kids would enjoy it. Unfortunately this recipe was a miss amongst everyone (family of 7 here). The cookie crust was way too sweet. We ended up eating just the fruit and cream cheese frosting off of it.
I want to make a personalized fruit pizza version for 6 kids to have their own mini pizza to decorate with fruit. Any ideas on how to make 6 baby crusts for this?
I made this for the 4th of July! It was such a wonderful addition to our menu. I used a pre-made cookie dough which was for the win when pressed for time and space. I also used a bourbon vanilla bean paste from Trader Joe’s that was such a nice result I thought I’d share.
Great recipe but would have liked a demo of you working with the dough on the pizza pan on your video. Video wasn’t very helpful but the pizza looked yummy.
“Your fruit pizza recipe is amazing! The colorful fruits, creamy base, and crispy crust all came together wonderfully. The step-by-step explanation was so simple that it was a lot of fun to make! Thanks for the great idea!”
I want to serve this on Saturday can I make it Friday night and will it be okay to serve Saturday?
I tried once and I liked it. It was very time consumed process. I would like to try again and see if can make it a little faster than before.
I made this delicious fruit pizza for a work party. I was told in the future, I had one job only,
bring a fruit pizza to every event!
Thanks for the amazing recipe. My daughter has it for her birthday cake every year.
Hunger Pangs Hitting Hard!
Looks tempting.
What thus for Christmas breakfast while waiting for dinner, I love this this stuff.
The recipe looks so easy to follow, and you can make it in various patterns. I love this recipe and think it would be perfect for any event.
This is similar to something we attempted in making a 4th of July “fruit flag”. Your crust sounds delicious!
Hi Lindsay,
I have absolutely LOVED your site over the years. Thank you for simple yet creative recipes.
I made this for a summer get together and everyone adored it. For the future, can the dough be frozen before it’s baked? What about the cream cheese icing? Would love to be able to whip this up short notice
Any tips if I needed to use gluten free flour for this recipe? Thanks!
Hi, Alyssa! You can make the dough gluten-free by using gluten-free flour. A 1:1 sub with Trader Joe’s Gluten Free Flour worked great for us.
Hi, Do you think I could make this vegan by using vegan butter sticks and a flax egg in place of the chicken egg? I think I can use vegan cream cheese for the frosting.
Thank you!
We haven’t veganized this recipe to know how things turn out, but we’d love to hear if you make it vegan!
It looks so beautiful and yummy. I love eating fruit pizza much.
I was wondering if anyone had an issues with the texture with making the crust I followed the recipe but everytine I make it the crust is so sticky to where it just wants to stick to my hands the rolling pin and everything else
Hi, Jessica! We haven’t noticed this issue before, but we’d suggest adding about 1 additional tablespoon of flour when you’re making the crust to hopefully prevent the stickiness. Let us know how this goes!
Can I use this in a large coolie sheet pan or should I double the recipe?
Depends on how large the cookie sheet is! But might be a good idea to double just in case!
This is a favorite for many today as requested I’m making it for a bridal shower. The best sugar cookie recipe by far and cream cheese icing
Absolutely love your recipes as always Lindsay!!
You are such a big inspiration! I only started my food blog (the-rainbow-recipes)
about 6 months ago about healthy, smoothie recipes, and if I could be just 10% as good and creative as you, then I would have made it!! 🙂
I can learn so much from you and your husband! Just discovered the love for podcasts (yes little late :D) and will listen to all of the hundreds of episodes from food bloggers pro! yayyyy! Loved the first few ones already!
Thanks for everything!! Lots of love,
Jula
I want to make this for about 50 people. If I triple the recipe, will this yield enough dough for a sheet pan pizza?
Great question! It depends on the dimensions of your sheet pan, but I’d imagine tripling the dough recipe would give you plenty to cover a large sheet pan.
My 5yo was insisting on a blueberry pizza. This was the first recipe I found that didn’t start with “a roll of sugar cookie dough”.
Thank you for baking from scratch.
My cookie baked a little longer than instructed (,I got distracted), but it still turned out tasty. I actually prefer the extra crunch to it. The frosting was perfect. Sometimes they’re just too sweet to add the sweet fruit on top, but not so much with this one.
